Service Dog Training in New Jersey
Task training and public access, done right.
A real service dog is defined by trained tasks and bomb-proof public behavior — not a vest from the internet. We run owner-trained service dog programs: temperament assessment, foundation obedience, task training matched to your disability-related needs, and public access work to ADA standards.
Temperament Assessment
Honest evaluation of whether your dog (or prospect) has the stability service work demands — before you invest.
Task Training
Alert, retrieval, mobility support, interruption behaviors and more, matched to your specific needs.
Public Access Training
Restaurants, stores, transit — calm neutrality everywhere, to ADA public access standards.
Owner-Trained Path
You train with our coaching. Dramatically more affordable than a $20,000+ program dog.
Service Dog Training FAQs
Can I train my own dog to be a service dog?
Yes — the ADA allows owner-training, and New Jersey has no separate certification requirement. The dog must be task-trained for your disability and behave impeccably in public. Our program coaches you through both.
How long does service dog training take?
Typically 18–24 months from foundation to full public access reliability. Dogs with strong prior obedience can move faster; the free evaluation gives you a realistic roadmap.
How much does it cost to train a service dog in NJ?
Owner-trained programs with professional coaching typically total $3,000–$10,000 over the training period — versus $20,000–$50,000 for a fully program-trained dog. We quote a custom plan after the free evaluation.
